Roles in the project

Dow Silicones Belgium sprl is the host institution for ESR1. In addition it provides the three students with extensive training opportunities in cosmetic science and polymer science.

As project coordinator, Dr. Marc Eeman is responsible for the daily management of the project. He is also the non-academic supervisor of the three PhD students involved in the CITYCARE project.

About the University of Ferrara

The University of Ferrara (UNIFE) is the host institution for ESR2. In addition it provides the three students with extensive training opportunities in skin biology and molecular biology.

Prof. Giuseppe Valacchi is the academic supervisor for ESR2 and the academic co-supervisor for ESR1.

About the Adolphe Merkle Institute

The Adolphe Merkle Institute (UNIFR) is an established independent center of competence associated with the University of Fribourg. AMI prides itself with an unusual blend of fundamental and application-oriented research within a multidisciplinary setting and strives to be a leader in interdisciplinary research on soft nano-science. AMI's researchers are currently organized in six research groups, which offer complementary expertise and interests in strategically important areas: BioNanomaterials, Macromolecular Chemistry, Nanoparticles Self-Assembly, Polymer Chemistry and Materials, Soft Matter Physics, and Soft Matter Scattering.
